Party Bus Los Angeles: The Complete Guide to Booking Your Night

Booking a party bus in Los Angeles should take one call or a short form, and you should know what the night costs before you commit. This is what we tell every group before they book an LA party bus: what each vehicle costs, which size actually fits your group, how the night runs in each part of the city, and the questions worth asking any company, us included.

LA is a hard city to party in by car. Venues sit miles apart, Sunset is a parking lot at 10pm on a Saturday, valet lines eat half an hour, and somebody always ends up driving. A Los Angeles party bus fixes all of that at once, but only if the vehicle fits your group and your route. The rest of this guide is about getting both right.

Sizing

Sprinter or Bus? The Fifteen-Person Rule

The most useful number in LA party bus pricing is fifteen. Fourteen people in a Sprinter for six hours comes to about $69 each before gratuity. Eighteen people on a standard bus for the same six hours is about $67 each. Under fifteen, the Sprinter is the better buy. At fifteen and over, the full-size bus costs about the same per head and gives you standing room, a dance floor and space for everyone's bags.

Rated capacity assumes seated

The number on the listing is the legal maximum with everyone sitting down. On a night with dancing and drinks, size for about 80% of it, and count the guests who will actually show, not the RSVPs. Final counts run 10–20% under the invite list.

One bus beats two Sprinters

Twenty people in two Sprinters for six hours comes to about $1,920, or $96 each. One standard bus for the same night is about $1,200, or $60 each, and nobody gets split into a second vehicle that arrives twenty minutes later.

Count dresses, not people

A wedding party or quinceañera court in full gowns takes up roughly two seats per dress. Size the vehicle for the dresses and the photographer, not just the headcount.

The route decides the vehicle, too

Los Angeles has places a full-size coach can't reach: low parking structures, hotel porte-cocheres, narrow hillside streets in the Hills and Silver Lake, and canyon roads like Kanan and Mulholland on the way to Malibu wineries. That's why a Sprinter is the right call for a Malibu wine day even for twelve people, and why we ask for every address before we confirm a vehicle. Our Sprinter van rental page covers the van options in detail.

Where the buses go

Party Bus LA Nights, Night by Night

Every party bus LA groups book falls into a handful of nights, and each one runs differently. Here's what matters for each.

Hollywood & the Sunset StripUsually 5–6 hours · standard or mid-size

The classic LA night out: dinner, then clubs on Hollywood Boulevard and up the Strip. Drop-off points are the whole game here, because the boulevard is congested and loading zones are scarce on weekends. Your chauffeur picks the closest legal stop and texts the group when the bus is back.

LA routes and tour ideas

Bachelorette partiesUsually 5–7 hours · 20 to 34 passenger

West Hollywood's bar strip, golden-hour photo stops in Beverly Hills, a DTLA rooftop. The two things that decide how the night goes: boarding on time at the rental or hotel (build in twenty minutes, it's always late) and agreeing the stops before the bus arrives, not on it. Mid-size buses are the most booked size for bachelorettes.

Bachelor partiesUsually 5–6 hours · 25 to 34 passenger

Pre-game in DTLA, then clubs across Hollywood and WeHo, with a late food stop in Koreatown. Bachelor groups often pick up from two or three addresses as people fly in, so list them all at booking. Plan the route so you don't cross the 405 twice; it's the single biggest time-waster in an LA night.

BirthdaysUsually 4–5 hours · any size

A 21st crawl through Hollywood, a 30th dinner and bar hop downtown, a 50th along the coast in Malibu. Birthday groups vary the most in size, so this is where the fifteen-person rule saves the most money.

Weddings & quinceañerasUsually 6–8 hours · mid-size or large

Ceremony, photos, reception, after-party. These run longer than people expect, and six hours almost always needs extending, so book eight. Church-to-photos-to-hall timing is built in before the day, and the vehicle is sized for gowns, not just guests.

Limo vs limo party bus in LA

Concerts & game daysUsually 5–7 hours · large

SoFi Stadium, the Hollywood Bowl, the Forum, Crypto.com Arena, Dodger Stadium and the Rose Bowl. On these nights the exit is where a bus earns its money: you skip the parking, the post-show rideshare surge and the hour-long garage queue. Stadiums run their own bus staging rules, which we confirm before the day.

Wine & brewery toursUsually 7–9 hours · Sprinter or standard

Malibu's tasting rooms off PCH suit a Sprinter, because the canyon roads exclude a full-size coach. For bigger groups, Temecula Valley is the better day out: wider roads, more tasting rooms close together, and about an hour and a half to two hours each way depending on traffic. LA's craft breweries cluster in the Arts District, Highland Park and the South Bay.

LA to Las VegasAbout 4 hours each way · any size

Turn the drive into the pre-party, with a rest stop at Baker or Primm. Vegas trips are quoted per trip rather than by the hour, one-way or round-trip.

LA to Vegas party bus service

Corporate & productionUsually 4–8 hours · any size

Team outings, holiday parties, client nights, conference shuttles and crew moves. Executive-configured Sprinters are available when the brief is clean and professional rather than lights and sound.

  • Fuel and mileage
  • Bluetooth sound system and LED lighting
  • Leather seating and climate control
  • Coolers with ice (BYOB, 21 and over)
  • Your stops, in the order you choose

Not included, so plan for it

  • Chauffeur gratuity, usually 15–20%
  • Tolls, if your route uses any
  • Time beyond your booked hours
  • Drinks, cover charges, tastings and venue fees

When a party bus is the wrong call

We'd rather say so now than take a booking that doesn't suit you. A bus usually isn't worth it for four people going to one place, for a straight airport transfer, for a short formal arrival where a single car makes more sense, or for a group that's really two groups heading different directions. For eight or more people with several stops, it usually costs less per head than rideshares and saves the whole night from being organised around who's driving. We go through the numbers in whether renting a party bus in Los Angeles is worth it, and compare the limo option in what's cheaper in LA, a party bus or a limo.

Before you book anyone

How to Check Any LA Party Bus Company

LA has three kinds of company selling party buses: lead sites that own no vehicles and sell your inquiry, brokers who take your booking and send someone else's bus, and operators who own the vehicles and employ the drivers. These checks tell you which one you're talking to. They take about ten minutes, they're free, and you should run them on us too.

01 · The TCP number

California charter carriers must hold a CPUC permit and show the number, written "TCP" plus digits. Ask for it and verify it with the California Public Utilities Commission.

02 · The USDOT number, for Vegas

Trips that leave California need federal authority too. Look the USDOT number up on FMCSA's SAFER system.

03 · "Is this your vehicle?"

Ask whether they own the bus or subcontract it, and whether the chauffeur is their employee.

04 · The specific vehicle

Ask for a daylight photo of the exact bus, sent today. Gallery shots can belong to anyone.

05 · The all-in number

Ask what's included and what's added: gratuity, tolls, cleaning fees, overtime rate. Compare totals, not hourly rates.

06 · The breakdown plan

Ask what happens if the vehicle fails the morning of your event. A real operator has an answer.

The licensing side is covered properly in can anyone drive a party bus, including the federal rule that vehicles built for 16 or more people need a commercial licence with a passenger endorsement.

Questions about Los Angeles party bus rentals

How much does a party bus rental in LA cost?

A 10–14 passenger Sprinter is $140–180 an hour, a 20–25 passenger standard bus $175–225, a 26–34 passenger mid-size $200–225, and a 35–50 passenger large bus starts at $225. Chauffeur, fuel, mileage, sound, lighting and coolers with ice are included. Gratuity isn't; 15–20% is customary.

Is there a minimum booking?

Weekend evenings usually carry a 4–5 hour minimum. Weekday and daytime bookings are more flexible and typically cost less. Your minimum is confirmed in writing with your quote.

How much is a party bus per person in Los Angeles?

Before gratuity, six hours works out to about $69 each for 14 people in a Sprinter, $48 each for 25 on a standard bus, $43 each for 30 on a mid-size and $30 each for 45 on a large bus.

Should we book a Sprinter or a party bus?

The crossover is about fifteen people. Under fifteen, the Sprinter is cheaper per head and fits more places. At fifteen and over, a standard bus costs about the same per person and gives you standing room and a dance floor.

Can we drink on an LA party bus?

Every LA Nights vehicle is BYOB for guests 21 and older, with coolers and ice provided. Chauffeurs never drink. If anyone in your group is under 21, tell us at booking so the right policy applies.

Can a party bus go anywhere in Los Angeles?

Not quite. Low parking structures, hotel porte-cocheres, narrow hillside streets and canyon roads like Kanan and Mulholland limit where a full-size coach can go. Give us every address and we'll match the vehicle to the route.

Can we take a party bus from Los Angeles to Las Vegas?

Yes. It's about four hours each way with a rest stop at Baker or Primm, quoted per trip rather than by the hour.

How far ahead should we book?

For prom season, graduation, December holiday parties and big concert or game weekends, as early as you can; four to eight weeks is a sensible target. Weeknights can often be booked with a few days' notice.

Which parts of Los Angeles do you pick up from?

Across LA County, including Hollywood, West Hollywood, Downtown LA, Koreatown, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, the Valley, the South Bay and East LA.

How do I check that an LA party bus company is licensed?

Ask for its CPUC charter-party carrier number, written as TCP followed by digits, and verify it with the California Public Utilities Commission. For trips that leave California, such as Las Vegas, also ask for the USDOT number and check it on FMCSA's SAFER system.
