Understanding Your Party Bus Quote
Two party bus quotes for the same night can look thousands of dollars apart, or suspiciously close, until you line them up. Here’s every item a fair quote should show, so you can compare companies and book a Los Angeles party bus with no surprises.
What a complete quote includes
| Line item | What to check |
|---|---|
| Hourly rate | For the specific vehicle, not “starting at.” Rates usually vary by vehicle size and day of the week. |
| Minimum hours | Many companies require a minimum booking, often higher on weekends and holidays. |
| When billing starts | Garage-to-garage (from when the vehicle leaves the lot) or point-to-point (from your pickup). It can change the total by an hour or more. |
| Gratuity | Included, added as a percentage, or left to you. Ask so you don’t tip twice. |
| Fees and surcharges | Fuel, airport, parking, tolls or cleaning. Any that apply should be listed by name. |
| Overtime rate | What an extra hour costs once the night is underway, agreed before the night. |
| Deposit and cancellation | How much is due to book, when the balance is due, and what happens if plans change. |
How to compare two quotes fairly
- Same vehicle size. A 20-passenger bus and a 35-passenger bus aren’t the same quote.
- Same hours, same billing method. Convert both to garage-to-garage or both to point-to-point.
- All-in total. Add gratuity and fees to each before comparing.
- Per person. Divide by your confirmed headcount. That’s the number your group actually pays.
Per-person math often changes the answer. Our guide Small Party Bus Rentals in Los Angeles shows where a Sprinter stops being cheaper than a full-size bus, and What’s Cheaper in LA: A Party Bus or a Limo? works through the limo comparison.
When a quote should make you pause
- A price far below every other company for the same vehicle and night.
- A deposit requested before you’ve seen written terms.
- No company name, address or TCP number on the quote.
- “Starting at” pricing that never turns into a total.
- Pressure to book in the next hour.
Before you sign

Frequently asked questions
What should a party bus quote include?
The hourly rate for the specific vehicle, minimum hours, whether billing is garage-to-garage or point-to-point, gratuity, any fees or surcharges, the overtime rate, and deposit and cancellation terms.
What is garage-to-garage billing?
Billing that starts when the vehicle leaves the company’s lot and ends when it returns, rather than at your pickup and drop-off. Ask which method a quote uses.
Is gratuity included in a party bus price?
It depends on the company. Ask whether gratuity is included, added as a percentage, or left to you, so you do not pay it twice.
How do I compare party bus quotes?
Compare the same vehicle size and hours, convert both to the same billing method, add gratuity and fees, then divide the all-in total by your confirmed headcount.
